www.kramerscientific.com/index.htmlI recently had to remove an M400 from its' focusing mount. It was held in with three M4 screws. They would not budge. I ruined a WiHa driver and also the inside of the screws. I mounted the head level in my drill press and drilled the heads off. They came off perfectly as small cylinders perfectly centered.
I was certain that I would need to use heat and a toothed plier to remove the screws. But much to my surprise the problem was some very high quality toothed locking washers. When the heads were drilled away, the screw shafts came out with fingers force.
Since the M400 is heavy and the owner was going to put a very expensive camera on it, I expended some effort to obtain some very high quality screws for replacement. I did not want to buy whatever the hardware store had that they got from the far east for the lowest price.
So I got the correct size screws from Tool and Die suppliers. The brand name here in the USA is HoloKrome. There is another brand called UnBrako which is equal in quality. These are heat treated to higher strength and will not break.
The Leica/Wild Fluoro Combi device is designed to compete with the Zeiss M2 BioQuad which was the original. It was developed by Kramer Scientific by their Reichert trained optical designer Lothar Faber. Kramer was acquired by a firm in Boston but still make similar devices and will fit them to anybodys' scope.
